Job Summary

Working under the general direction of Dr. Sanjat Kanjilal, the Research Associate will participate in research studies related to the use of AI in infectious diseases.

These studies may include the development of machine-learning decision support tools for antimicrobial stewardship, causal inference using observational data, investigations of algorithmic fairness, and optimization of the human-AI interface.

Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing

  • Participate, and in some cases, lead the following aspects of studies: data management, data analysis, data presentation, and reporting.
  • Create and maintain programs to perform analyses and generate both routine and ad hoc reports, in close consultation with investigators, statisticians and senior programmers.
  • Assist in the management of quality control testing of R and SAS programs, in accordance with internal standards and guidelines; create and/or modify accompanying documentation, as appropriate.
  • Work with large electronic health record datasets.
  • Prepare summary reports/presentations.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications - what you need to perform the job


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

  • Masters Degree in Public Health, Health Services Research, Health Policy, Economics, or similar field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to four years of relevant experience in conducting epidemiological evaluations, or working with administrative healthcare and electronic healthcare record data.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of common electronic healthcare coding systems (e.g., NDC, ICD9, HCPCS).
  • Ability to analyze data and report data findings.
  • Ability to manage external partners through strong written and oral communications.
  • Intermediate SAS and R programming skills.
  • Ability to act independently and with good judgment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
  • Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
  • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
