    We are currently looking for a Chain of Custody Auditor for our Supply Chain Global seafood business based out of Washington. Working as part of a team based remotely, our Chain of Custody Auditor performs a key role supporting the Supply Chain Seafood evaluation around the world, against various sustainability or responsible management standards that use market forces to promote the adoption of fisheries sustainable practices.

    Responsibilities
    • Conduct audits on behalf of a range of clients in the seafood sectors against internationally recognized Responsibly Managed Fisheries Standards such as MSC, RFM, and Marin Trust.
    • Perform technical functions relating to audits belonging to Standards such as MSC, RFM and Marin Trust.
    • Generate accurate, unambiguous, and objective reports following each audit and submit completed reports within agreed timescales.
    • Evaluate proposed Chain of Custody corrective actions provided by clients from raised Non-conformities following each respective audit.
    • Become familiarized with standard owner databases and external support platforms, to eventually become an expert user.
    • Take part in face to face and online training sessions to maintain competence and technical understanding as required.
    • Provide technical support to administration colleagues as required.
    Qualifications
    • Degree or equivalent in seafood/fisheries science/marine biology and ecology/fisheries economics, nutrition or related field. Degree or equivalent in marine biology/fisheries sciences, or food nutrition science technical experience including 2 years food-related in supply chain management, science, traceability or policy development. Examples of technical qualifications include: supply chain and logistics management, food/seafood science, and fisheries science.
    • Experience in one or more of the core components of the COC certification:
      • To demonstrate knowledge of food safety or quality systems management, product or supply chain risk assessment, traceability systems, and relevant national and international laws relating to product labelling and traceability.
      • An understanding of fish and fish products and their supply chains, and the type of supply chain operation to be audited.
      • The ability to manage relationships with colleagues and clients.
      • The ability to apply appropriate audit principles, procedures and techniques to the planning and execution of different audits so that audits are conducted in a consistent and systematic manner.
      • Be able to verify the accuracy of collected information and be aware of the significance and appropriateness of audit evidence to support audit findings and conclusions.
      • Understand and assess those factors that can affect the reliability of the audit findings and conclusions.
      • The ability to Identify and find the location of the information required for undertaking and completing each audit.
      • Reconcile document discrepancies and investigate the causes of these.
      • Detect commonly used methods of document manipulation,
      • fraudulent actions and fraudulent practices.
    • Highly organized and able to work with multiple tight deadlines.
    • Upholds policy, ethics and leads to work to multiple tight deadlines.
    • Proficient level of written and spoken English.
    • Ability to travel on a consistent basis due to the mandatory nature of the Standards requirements to conduct audits onsite.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Lead auditor (ISO 9001) qualification or Lead auditor (ISO9001) qualification.
    • Additional language (s) would be a distinct advantage.
    • HACCP for processors.
