    Position Overview:

    This role plays a crucial part in guiding and fostering a culture of safety and health within the business unit. The Site Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of project safety and accident prevention programs to ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local standards. They will liaise with operations for site-specific orientations and additional safety training when needed. Effective communication skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with operations and client personnel are essential. This role involves thorough investigation and timely reporting of incidents to relevant parties, as well as active participation in identifying and implementing corrective actions. The majority of work time, around 65%, is expected to be spent in the field conducting audits, crew visits, subcontractor visits, etc.


    Main Responsibilities:


    • Oversee and collaborate with site supervisory staff to identify and address unsafe working conditions promptly to establish a safe work environment.
    • Regularly conduct walk-through inspections and audits of the construction area, engaging with craft labor and subcontractors to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
    • Investigate all accidents and near misses in conjunction with Trade Superintendents, Foremen, and crews.
    • Accompany safety, health, and insurance inspectors on tours, ensuring completion of all required documentation in line with corporate and external safety protocols.
    • Promote communication that reflects integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior in all interactions, verbal and written.
    • Participate in daily project safety discussions with the Construction Manager and Trade Superintendents at a minimum.
    • Assist the HSE Director in reviewing safety documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission. Ensure prompt implementation of necessary corrective actions.
    • Help the site team implement the Job Site Safety Program, including training and orientations.
    • Contribute to promoting a safety-oriented culture by educating individuals on safety behaviors with a focus on understanding the underlying reasons.
    • Gain insights into the budgeted risk costs for the project and communicate potential cost implications to on-site supervision while collaborating on solutions.
    • Manage injury cases and work with supervisors to minimize costs related to personnel, subcontractors, and equipment.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with local emergency response teams, law enforcement, and occupational physicians. Adhere to the company's Return-to-Work policy.
    • Demonstrate strong communication and team-building skills to emphasize the commitment to safety as a behavior rather than just a policy or goal.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to Safety Technicians.
    • Identify project site GPS coordinates for emergency services.
    • Coordinate and plan safety training programs, including OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour sessions.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


    • Four-year degree in Occupational Safety/Health or equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • Preferably hold a valid safety professional designation from BCSP or equivalent.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Safety Manager on a high-paced construction project.
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in complying with safety regulations at federal, state, local, and company levels.
    • Preferably possess expertise in electrical safety, crane and heavy equipment safety, and structural safety.
    • Hold OSHA 510 & OSHA 500 certifications.
    • Certified in First Aid and CPR.

    • Excellent record-keeping skills.
    • Ability to represent the company in client interactions related to health, safety, and environmental matters.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Fluency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
