    MAR Process Director (Financial Reporting Controls)

    Job Description:

    Responsible for providing strong leadership and vision as well as the management, development, and execution of all MAR activities. MAR activities includes identifying risks and internal control gaps in processes and systems through risk-based assessments and interaction with the business at all levels, developing audit plan, coordinating, and leading process for oversight and monitoring of controls (planning, scoping, control standardization and rationalization) related to the Model Audit Rule (MAR). Report results of testing on a quarterly and annual basis to senior executive management, process owners and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

    Manage team of skilled financial auditors and coordinate mitigation activities related to gaps in the control structure and ensure coordination between Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, and Internal Audit. Ability to influence business partners to accept practices and enforce mitigation plans.

    Provide independent trusted advice that will assist the first line of defense in making informed risk-based decisions, while supporting the delivery of business goals and objectives. Maintain consistency of training program and delivery to assure continuous knowledge improvement of all corporate Colleagues.

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in MIS, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
    • Years of experience in the field of internal audit and public accounting may be substituted for MAR and/or Sarbanes Oxley experience
    • 10+ years proven internal controls or internal audit experience required. Proven history of timely program deliverables; successful remediation of fail points and control gaps; and IT financial system control management.
    • Experience in developing comprehensive governance and analysis programs highly desired
    • Prior leadership role 5+ years within insurance company/public accounting / internal audit or controls function. Proven successful management of staff responsible for framework deliverables.
    • Life and A&H insurance or external audit experience is preferred
    • Significant project management experience is required
    • Involvement with corporate initiatives as the advanced knowledge of controls SME
    • CPA is required
    • Certified Internal Audit (CIA) is highly preferred but can also be an intent to obtain
    • CISA, CRMA, CCSA, CISSP and/or CRISC preferred but not required
