Description
Summary ATF is a law enforcement agency in the U.S.Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals/criminal organizations, illegal use/trafficking of firearms, illegal use/storage of explosives, acts of arson/bombings, acts of terrorism, and illegal diversion of alcohol/tobacco products.
We partner with communities, industries, law enforcement, and public safety agencies to safeguard the public through information sharing, training, research, & technology.
Visit Responsibilities This position is located under the Office of Public and Government Affairs, Information and Privacy Governance Division in Washington, District of Columbia.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Program Analyst reporting to the Division Chief, serving as the primary point of contact, providing expertise and support in Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) compliance for ATF, overseeing requests, coordinating communications, and ensuring seamless interactions within the Division.
As a Program Analyst, GS , your typical work assignments may include:Coordinating timely and accurate responses to FOIA requests; Identifying operational needs, addressing potential gaps and challenges and ensuring compliance with information privacy policies and governance standards; Conducting comprehensive assessments of FOIA processing software, analyzing system efficiency and recommending updates and enhancements; Organizing and coordinating meetings and training sessions for FOIA program teams.

To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau.

Qualifications To qualify for 13, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12.
Additional Conditions of Employment:
GS-1- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Utilizing fact-finding and investigative techniques to conduct studies; and Applying FOIA principles to data collection, analysis and reporting program-related data; and Ensuring compliance and effectiveness with FOIA regulations in managing information requests; and Utilizing FOIA-related systems to generate reports and information used to make decisions and evaluate the program; and Negotiating for acceptance and implementation of FOIA recommendations.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
