    Job Description Summary:

    What you need to know about the role: As a Consumer Business Risk & Controls Senior Analyst, you will support the product management organization by managing and executing day-to-day risk management activities to ensure PayPal is delivering great customer experiences.

    These responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, including the creation of process and control documentation; timely management and resolution of issues and incidents; and development and maintenance of controls, controls monitoring and testing plans.

    The Business Risk and Control Lead ("BRCL") is responsible for helping Business owners in operational first line of defense teams manage the risk they own.

    The BRCL manages and executes risk processes that exist in the first line, such as risk identification, risk assessment, risk and control evaluation, management and resolution of issues and incidents, Risk and Compliance Plan ("RCP") and risk reporting.

    This role is also responsible for managing business-specific risk forums, and interfacing with the Second Line of Defense to understand and apply risk frameworks and protocols.

    You will be working with a variety of different skillsets across disciplines, managing risks processes such as Risk Identification, Risk Assessment, Risk and Control Evaluation, Management and Resolution of issues and incidents, Risk & Compliance Plan output as well as Risk Reporting for products, functions, and jurisdictions.

    Meet our team:


    This role will be a vital member of the Consumer Business Risk and Controls team responsible for successful delivery of PayPal core consumer products and features.

    You will ensure the execution and maintenance of all risk management programs and processes to drive operational excellence.


    Proactively collaborate with a cross functional team that will include product managers, project managers, engineers, analytics, second line of defense control partners, compliance, audit, and legal.

    Identify, measure, monitor and control risks associated with business activities.
    Strengthen the control environment by implementing and maintaining the risk management framework and program.

    You, a vital player in a compact yet powerful team, will work closely with Consumer Business Leaders as well as partnering with other Business Risk and Control Leads, Risk & Compliance Product Engagement teams, Risk, Legal & Compliance Business Partners and stakeholders across Product, Policy, and other supporting teams.

    With your savvy skills and proactive attitude, you will manage various risk identification, assessments, testing and monitoring as well as mitigation activities.


    This role will partner and collaborate with the business and SLOD to determine Key Risk Indicators and report out senior leaders and impacted stakeholders regularly.


    Your day to day:

    Issues and Incident Resolution:
    Collaborate with partners to determine root cause and impacts, drive issue resolution and remediation, and develop controls.

    Communicate and collaborate with other BRCLs and business owners to assign and agree ownership of issues originating from outside of Consumer organization, ensuring adequate resources are in place to manage Consumer impacts.


    Risk Assessment:
    Perform and refresh risk assessment including risk identification, documentation, and control evaluation. Translate control deficiencies into mitigation plans and
    provides recommendations for enhancement. Identify critical areas to monitor and escalates issues and findings to appropriate stakeholders coming out of the process.

    New Product Reviews:

    Plan and execute on new product reviews to identify risks and controls, while enabling the business to move quickly.


    Risk & Control Plan Execution:
    Define, manage, and execute on activities associated with risk and control plans.

    Business Continuity Management:
    Accountable for ensuring adequate Business Continuity Plans and Business Impact Assessments

    Audit & Exam Management:
    Respond to Internal and External Audit and Testing Engagements (e.g., Second Line of Defense reviews, and Regulatory Examinations)

    Management Reporting & Awareness:
    Track progress and provide timely updates and escalate blockers and timeline concerns to management. Provide assertions on risk exposure and articulate and present escalated risks to management. Assist in advising senior management on the status of their risk environment related to risk identification and control weaknesses.
    Help ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

    Anticipates business needs and proactively identifies opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment through risk assessment process, emerging risks, and SLA reporting.

    Maintain strong understanding of key risk management principles and processes for the areas supported.
    Maintenance of Risk Management tools (ServiceNow, Sphere, etc.) to capture data, assessment and reporting for areas of responsibility. Create and maintain risk inventory including Products, Processes, Legal Entity, Risks and Controls.
    Review and derive insights from key risk metrics for Consumer products.
    Support other functional areas of responsibility of the BRCL.

    Communication Skills:
    Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to drive productive discussions with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute action plans.

    Attention to Detail:

    Ability to deep-dive problem statements to identify root cause and to partner with the business to create solutions with the customer and business goals in mind.


    Attention to Detail:

    Proficient in Microsoft Office with knowledge of our internal systems & tools, comfortable reviewing and interpreting policies & procedures.


    Technical Capabilities:
    Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, comfort with learning new systems and processes

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree with 4 years relevant experience; intellectually curious with an ability to learn new systems, products, and processes quickly.

    Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, etc. preferred.
    3-5 years of experience of Audit, Internal Control, Risk, Compliance, Regulatory, similar experience.
    Experience in managing risks, controls, and/or compliance obligations.
    Experience working in a rapid growth environment in financial services, payments or technology companies is a plus.
    An organized, detailed, proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative work style.
    Proven ability to work cross functionally and adapt to change are extremely important.
    Ability to prioritize workloads and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
    Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, manage projects and drive results.
    Ability to provide risk expertise through a practical, business lens.
    Self-starter demonstrates independence, initiative, and follow-through.
