ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or changes due to customers.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Greet customers entering establishments.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
  • Compute and record totals of transactions.
  • Accept EBT and Coupons as applicable.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Sell Lottery and Lotto tickets and other items to customers.
  • Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.
  • Sort and count currency and coins.
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
  • Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Pay some invoices by cash from POS.
  • Request information or assistance using paging systems.
  • Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items.
  • Compile and maintain nonmonetary reports and records.
  • Offer customers carryout service at the completion of transactions as needed.
  • Cashiers are tasked with maintaining clean and orderly stations. This includes servicing and cleaning the public restrooms, cleaning the windows and countertops, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floors, as well as organizing shelves.
  • Responsible for maintaining the store inventory, stocking and restocking shelves, replenishing product in shelving, coolers and hot food area. Must be available to prepare the hot food, as well. Occasional maintenance may be required on drink machines.
  • Responsible for maintaining and refilling the outside washing dispensers.
  • Required to ensure satisfactory customer service by greeting customers and assisting them with any needs or questions.
  • This position is often called upon to help locate or recommend a product(s) to customers.
  • If needed, may be required to assist with fueling tanks.
  • Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Performs all duties with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 LBS

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Education/Experience:
  • One to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Certificates and Licenses:
  • ABC lead training and food handler's card
