    DUTIES AT THE JUNIOR/MID-LEVEL POSITION (GS-11/GS-12)

    • You will make site investigation field trips to project sites to collect all pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspection of existing conditions.
    • You will coordinate activities with other engineers and architects to ensure that final detailed working drawings and specifications are properly integrated with the building systems.
    • You will act as final authority on scope compliance and resolve design review comments with the A/E firm to correct deficiencies.
    • You will track the progress of projects to ensure that they are kept within construction budgets and that the drawings and specifications are completed within allotted design schedules.
    • You will ensure that requests for deviations or changes to any terms and conditions of the contract are coordinated and approved, as appropriate.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    MID-LEVEL (GS-12):

    • Analyzing/designing fire protection systems for a variety of facilities.
    • Interpreting/Applying codes, standards, regulations and policies such as Building and Fire codes;
    • Preparing/Reviewing outlines of services, scopes of work, construction estimates, and engineering fee estimates for Architect-Engineer contracts; and
    • Preparing/Reviewing calculations, cost estimates, project documents, reports, and designs for technical adequacy and engineering practice.

    JUNIOR LEVEL (GS-11):

    • Reviewing/Inspecting fire protection systems for a variety of facilities.
    • Applying codes, standards, regulations and policies such as Building and Fire codes; and
    • Assisting with engineering calculations, cost estimates, project documents, reports, and designs.

    OR

    3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree

    OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

    • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
    • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
    • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
    • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
    • This position is part of regionalized command. The incumbent may be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the area of responsibility as a condition of employment
