The Role
- The team has an opportunity for a Ship Program Manager (SPM) to join the team SPM Responsibilities (Includes but are not limited to: )
- If we are being asked by a customer, it is our responsibility to complete it or assign responsibility to complete.
- If you are the construction teams first call for help, you are in the right spot.
- Prepare or maintain reports for the program office that help assess the standing of the project.
- Provide support in preparation for program presentations and meetings
- Work closely with value stream such as planning, engineering and manufacturing shops to ensure deliverables are on track prior to modules entering foot print. Identify shortage list and know critical systemic material items by Part Number and Construction Need Date for all modules.
- Communicate program objectives and goals to the value stream such as planning, engineering and manufacturing shops so they can support the program appropriately.
- Assist construction and production teams with identifying, analyzing, managing risk and opportunities.
- Recognize and communicate cost variance associated with your AOR that are driving negative or abnormal performance. Report Weekly
- Support module receipt and ship out meeting/documentation transfer between NNS and EB. Also NNS to NNS. Ex. Delinquent test forms and TIRs. Attend specifically shipout, Agenda, 4WD, and Phase meetings for all modules. Attend any other meeting required to assist in managing module.
- Support Kaizen event action meetings and drive team to close action items.
- Coordinate crossproject activities with other SPM's.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to the production line.
- Provide safety initiatives that will lead to a safer and more efficient production line.
- Identify issues in your AOR and take the lead to resolve the issues.
- Continuously look for funding opportunities to support work scopes without target. This can be accomplished by issuing MR and correcting targets.
- Provide a deck plate presence by attending crew talks and conducting walkthroughs on modules/boats weekly. Spend at a minimum two days a weeks with the construction team providing program assistance to operation.
- Develop/maintain a thorough understanding of you AOR. You should be thoroughly versed in all aspects of Ship Program Management.
- Be prepared to walk PO through modules weekly to show/discuss issues
- Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and clientsatisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Must Have - Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
- One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant nonexempt experience
- Military Paygrade E5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant nonexempt experience
