Job Description:


As the PDC Product Line Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of fixed cutter drill bit technology.

This position demands a forward-thinking individual capable of envisioning the long-term trajectory of PDC cutter technology and translating it into actionable R&D strategies.

You will collaborate closely with the PDC Strategy, Engineering, and Operations teams to monitor the development, field testing, and implementation of novel cutter technologies, ensuring they meet global operational needs while minimizing redundancies and optimizing performance.


Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Work alongside the PDC Strategy Team to maintain and support the longterm vision for fixed cutter drill bit technology, influencing the priorities of future R&D efforts based on business needs.
  • Ensure all departments and projects adhere to the stage gate process to fully evaluate the technical and commercial success or failure of new technologies as well as managing the commercialization of approved products.
  • Collaborate with the PDC Strategy and Operations teams to monitor field testing of new PDC technologies, ensuring thorough tracking and evaluation of performance data utilizing the stage gate process.
  • Maintain the strategic outline determining the optimal variety of cutter grades and shapes required to meet global demands.
  • Manage PDC cutter life cycles by leading efforts to rationalize existing PDC cutter technologies, working alongside Supply Chain aiming to reduce the assortment of PDC shapes and grades without compromising on performance or applicability.
  • Continuously monitor global trends in cutter usage to identify opportunities for and working with inventory holders to streamline the global portfolio by eliminating redundant grades and shapes, thereby enhancing efficiency, and reducing costs and working capital.
  • Diversification of cutter supply by country of origin and by vendor should also be an ongoing strategic consideration to minimize supply chain risk.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in drill bit and cutter technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead R&D projects and drive innovation in cutter technology.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a keen eye for identifying trends and opportunities in complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with global operational requirements for drilling technologies and an ability to anticipate future industry needs.
