The Primal Pet Group includes manufacturers of fully prepared, human-grade raw foods, treats, and supplements for dogs and cats. The Primal Pet Group was founded with the goal of improving the quality of life and overall health and happiness of pets through wholesome raw foods that mimic the diet of animals in the wild. We are looking for reliable, motivated, pet companions to join our fast-paced, growing **Prairie Dog** Team in Abilene, Texas. Our Quality Department is growing Help us grow our team * Ensures compliance to all regulatory standards including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act), and SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), etc.
Maintain the GMP, SQF, OSHA, ORGANIC & HACCP based food safety certification systems
Conducts quality audits such as third-party audits, customer audits, and internal audits. Ensures compliance with the Recall and Recovery Plan.
Periodic inspection of all aspects of the operation and report deficiencies
Customer complaint resolution and preventative action
Implement, Maintain and Update food safety support programs, processing procedures, and task instructions
Develops and manages quality control metrics for performance and working with cross-departmental teams implements continuous improvement agenda and procedures
Verify and validate food safety and quality processing controls
Lab testing including microbiological analysis, pH, processing aid chemical concentration. Maintain and validate water activity testing on a regular basis.
Non-conformance root cause analysis, and corrective action
Manages Pest Control Program, Uniform, and Laboratory vendor relationship.
Generates ideas to improve quality procedures and participates in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and/or programs.
Train and oversee Quality Technicians. Ensures that quality technicians maintain the desired level of department performance by (1) managing quality assurance checks including monitoring AQLs (acceptable quality levels); (2) validating quality checks against production specifications for both attribute and variable data collection and; (3) managing products placed on hold.
Filling the demands of day-to-day operations by stepping in and filling in for different roles when needed and completing other tasks as assigned
Maintain a safe conscience manufacturing environment by ensuring all potential hazards are addressed and corrective actions are in place when necessary
Create a positive work environment that rewards superior performance. Reports and documents violations of policies.
Other duties as assigned
Ability to use mathematical and statistical knowledge to assess data and determine process capabilities
Exceptionally strong communication skills, both oral and written, and strong managerial skills including good judgment, planning, organizing, innovative approach to problem-solving, motivate employees
Experience with Customer and Vendor management as well as familiarity with third-party auditing processes
Ability to prioritize and follow-through to achieve results and meet deadlines to meet the needs of the business
Strong leadership skills, with an ability to build trust, provide direction, and vitality to execute with excellence and achieve extraordinary results.
Fluent with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Location + a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or
+ a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
