- Follow-up and interventions for patients with ostomies, draining wounds, fistulae, skin breakdown, and related issues.
- Direct patient care counseling for surgery anticipation and stoma creation, individualized instruction for abdominal stoma care, and assessment of skin breakdown conditions. Continuum of care management and product evaluations.
- Assessment of patient needs, educational programs for medical professionals, and patient/family teaching on ostomy/wound care and self-management.
- Minimum 1 year clinical nursing experience with ostomies, draining wounds, fistulas, and pressure sores.
- Bachelors Degree
- Completion of a Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) program.
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Wound Care Nurse Certificate
- Basic Life Support
- Ostomy Care Nurse Certificate
- Knowledge of patient teaching principles, gastrointestinal/genitourinary/integumentary systems, communication skills, fine motor dexterity.
- Certified Continence Nurse (CCCN) may be required.
- Current Board Certification in Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (CWOCN).
