    Provides care to medically complex patients in collaboration with the physician in a specialized acute care setting.

    Works autonomously and has authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of wound, ostomy, and continence care program throughout the inpatient care areas.

    Serves as a resource for wound care management, including identification, assessment, treatment, and prevention. Provides specialized consultation on wound, ostomy, and continence issues for patients, families, nursing and medical staff.

    Serves as a consultant for the treatment of patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis, drainage or incontinence.

    Works with physicians and nursing staff to provide updated information regarding wound care.


    Education and Work Experience:

    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Relevant clinical nursing experience: Wound care certification: Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.

    Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

    Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.

    Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
    Maintains appropriate supply of equipment and materials. Adventist Health is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our associates and patients.
