is a non-profit organization that operates internationally in the fields of war grave maintenance, historical and political education, and commemorative culture.

The Volksbund sees war cemeteries as transnational places of remembrance and learning about European history.

The Department of Commemorative Culture and Education organizes projects in the areas of historical and political education and international encounters at war cemeteries and memorial sites in Germany and abroad.

The department of "Peace Education in Schools and Universities" coordinates the federal organization's work in schools and universities, reaching over 18,000 students and 1,600 teachers annually.


We are looking for a full-time (39 hours per week) employee to join our Berlin office as a "Peace Education in Schools and Universities" specialist, starting on December 1, 2023.

The position is temporary and will end when the employee returns from parental leave (expected until March 31, 2025).


Responsibilities:

  • Support the department head in preparing, conducting, and following up on meetings, conferences, seminars, and events, as well as creating publications and organizing school competitions.
  • Implement marketing measures in the areas of social media, newsletters, and flyers, as well as maintaining the website.
  • Support in budget management, expense control, and general office tasks.
  • Maintain contact with school representatives from regional and district associations, as well as external partners
