    About the Job

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Network (Fiber) Technician to be an important part of our Fiber Engineering team. The Field Network (Fiber) Technician will be responsible for field fiber splicing, testing, verification and certification in outdoor enclosures and network device implementation and support. The Network Engineering Department team is responsible for network design, operations, and maintenance of our network. To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of fiber optic network operations and the tools to test and certify those networks as well as familiarity with network hardware. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company's objectives. To be successful you will have superior communication and organizational skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Understand Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
    • Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
    • Supervise a team of splicers in the field, providing guidance, training (safety, technical and operational), and support as needed.
    • Plan and schedule splicing activities to meet project timelines and customer requirements.
    • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets industry standards and specifications.
    • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Manage inventory of splicing materials, tools, and equipment.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all team members follow safety guidelines.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to fiber optic networks.
    • Maintain accurate records of splicing activities, including documentation of work completed and materials used for repairs or upgrades.
    • Provide regular progress reports to management on project status and team performance.
    • Work with customers to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems.
    • Conduct site surveys and network assessments.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and telecommunications infrastructure.
    • Previous supervisory experience in leading a team of splicers in the field, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
    • Previous experience working at an ISP
    • Understanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable types, splicing techniques, and testing procedures.
    • Proficient with splicing tools and equipment.
    • Proficiency in fiber mapping and schematic reading.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
    • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
    • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
    • Certification in fiber optics (e.g., CFOT) is preferred.
    • Technical certifications or training in fiber optics is a plus.
    • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, network installation, fiber optic splicing or related field.
    • Valid state driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

    Location

    Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine, CA. Travel required to local project/customer sites.

    Compensation

    Starting at $75,000 per year (actual starting salary may be higher based on candidate's qualifications, skills and years of experience).
