Material Handler - 2nd (2:00PM - 10:00PM), 3rd (10:00PM - 6:00AM):

Material Handlers transport all materials and equipment via forklift (sit-down/stand-up) or tugger to each cell operation allowing continuous/expeditious production.

This position is fast paced and challenging - applicants should be able to comfortably multitask in a demanding environment. Team members in material handling roles are often required to service multiple departments/areas in order to prevent machine downtime.


This position may work _up to_ 7 days a week, 12 hours a day including weekends and holidays depending on customer demand.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Operate forklift (sit down/standup) or tugger, read and follow directions, and respond quickly in a fastpaced production environment.
  • Operate within acceptable quality, quantity, performance standards.
  • Use Epic Scanner for material movement in SAP.
  • Transport materials and baskets to and from work cells as needed to maintain continuous production.
  • Wear PPE as required in a variety of departments and areas.
  • Operate safely at all times the plants are pedestrian heavy and some aisles may be narrow and require alertness/awareness in a changing environment. Handlers will be in close proximity to machinery, racks, finished material, and fellow team mates.
  • Available for overtime as required/requested available for scheduled "oncall" days in the event that coverage is needed which can extend a shift or lead to an early arrival.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Load and unload trucks, dump scrap, move machinery, supply full totes and remove empty totes. as requested based on assigned departments and areas.
  • Perform safety checks and basic preventative maintenance daily on the forklifts.
  • Follow safety regulations at all times.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to complete provided forklift certification process.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal directions and charts
  • Must have flexibility and ability to respond quickly to numerous requests and paging announcements
  • Must be actively alert and aware of surrounding activities in all directions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Reasonable accommodations may be developed to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The team member is regularly required to stand for 8-12 hours during a normal shift. The team member frequently is required to walk 10-15 feet, multiple times per normal shift.

The team member must frequently lift, rotate, clamp and/or move up to 50 pounds multiple times per day within the normal shift.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color-coding distinction, close vision, distance vision and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or air borne particles and operates in extreme heat or cool climate conditions.

The team members are occasionally exposed to vibration. Team members are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment to assist in promoting a safe work environment. Team members perform reactive maintenance to facility property and equipment and preventive maintenance as availability permits. Team members will also perform other essential duties as assigned.
