Job Summary:


The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing a wide range of work to assist with general repair and upkeep of the Facility, buildings, grounds, and equipment.


Description:


Under the supervision of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Assistant performs inspection, repairs, routine preventative maintenance, and general upkeep throughout the Facility and grounds.

Duties may include moving of equipment and/or furniture, carpentry, basic electrical, plumbing, and/or lawn maintenance, or other tasks as directed by the Regional Director of Plant Operations, or Administrator.

Qualifications:

A. High School diploma or equivalent.

B. Valid driver's license.

C. Satisfactory OIG exclusions and background check.

D. Satisfactory personal & professional references.


Required Personal Skills & Traits:

A. Knowledge of State, Federal, & Local regulations very helpful.

B. Knowledge of Life Safety Code very helpful.

C. Knowledge of electrical Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures very helpful.

D. General carpentry knowledge preferred.

E. Ability & willingness to take additional training in areas of need.

F. A firm desire to perform the job & demonstrated willingness to learn.

G. Ability to work independently with little supervision.

H. Willingness to follow directions and accept supervision & constructive criticism from the Maintenance Director and Regional Director of Plant Operations

I. Ability & willingness to meet deadlines.

J. Ability & willingness to maintain confidentiality according to Federal & State requirements & Facility policy.

K. Ability to speak/understand/fully comprehend the English language & communicate effectively with Residents, Resident family members, & staff.

Ability to read & write the English language proficiently:

a. Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, diagrams/schematics, & procedure manuals, both written and electronic format

N. Ability to lift & move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis; 70+ intermittently; 100+ occasionally.

Ability to see & hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

d. Ability to distinguish color (discuss ability to compensate with Administrator if color-blind or otherwise color challenged).
