    Description:


Under general direction, to manage, plan and coordinate the daily activities of one or more IT processes; to analyze trends in technology, assessing the impact of emerging technologies on the environment, providing solutions to address technology and business issues, and managing people and financial resources while ensuring the development of high-quality technology solutions.

Typical Tasks:


  • Ensures work, information, ideas, and technology flow freely among the team/section;
  • Meets regularly with team members to gather work status, discuss work progress and obstacles;
  • Provides advice, guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback;
  • Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all work initiatives;
  • Establishes measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business goals;
  • Documents and presents performance assessments;
  • Implements organizational practices for staffing, EEO, diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention;
  • Identifies skills and knowledge deficits;
  • Generates appropriate communication, process and educational plans for mitigating the disruption of change;
  • Ensures internal Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met;
  • May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Employment Standards:


Training and Experience Note:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Information Technology, Science, Business or a related field,

AndTwelve (12) years of IT and business work experience.

Two (2) of these years of experience must be at a level comparable to the County's Senior IT Manager classification.


OR
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college,- AndFourteen (14) years of IT and business work experience.

Two (2) of these years of experience must be at a level comparable to the County's Senior IT Manager classification.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work. If driving, possession of a valid California Driver's License prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization.
  • Depending on the position, related certifications may be desirable.

Knowledge of:


  • Computer operations management;
  • Multiple roles in systems implementation;

  • Best methods for communication among teams and sections;
  • Methods to keep apprised of work status, work progress and obstacles;
