Boeing has an exciting opportunity, through our IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship Program, for Composite Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship in the Puget Sound region in Washington StateThis 4-year apprenticeship is 8,000 hours in length (7,360 on-the-job hours and 640 school hours) and includes paid on-the-job training and unpaid classroom education.
The first 20% of the on-the-job training is a probationary period.Apprentices attend school for a minimum 144 unpaid hours per school year (four hours each week) at the South Seattle College Georgetown Apprenticeship and Education Center.
Apprentice wages are defined in Article 17 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with International Association of Machinists District 751 and The Boeing Company.
Apprentices advance one wage progression step for every 1000 apprenticeship on the job training hours until completion.Graduates are placed in the target job at the maximum rate and receive a Journey-worker Certificate and Card - recognized worldwide.

Applicants should have a strong willingness and aptitude for learning, problem solving, and judgement, as well as a mindset for continuous improvementApprentices will learn the following tasks to become proficient as a Journey level graduate of the program:
Completely and independently setup, adjust, and regularly operate a variety of machines, such as numerically controlled multi-axis fiber placement machine, 5-axis routers, 5-axis water jet, 5-axis mills to perform machining functions on composite material.
Use all forms of control media, program documents and/or enter any required data to enable machine operations to quality requirements.
Adjust multiple operator-controlled machine settings to ensure product conforms to hardware specifications.Make dimensional check of parts during machining process.
Determine method and sequence of work operations.
Select, devise, develop and fabricate shop aids required to complete work assignments.
Work with Engineering, and other research and developmental units in the development of materials, processes, specifications and related documents to be used in the rework, repair or change incorporation of composite parts, tools, assemblies and equipment for experimental, developmental, rework, repair, tooling or production purposes.
Plan, develop and coordinate shop methods and procedures to be used to fabricate rework or repair composite parts, and assemblies.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age;Must be eligible for hire or rehire at Boeing;Must never have been enrolled in or completed an IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship program;Must have a GED or a high school diploma; andMust have US person status as defined by Boeing.
