What you'll do
We are looking to add a Director, Finance to our Finance team.

Under the direction of the Controller, you are responsible for serving as a key member of the Finance & Compliance team and set the day-to-day operating tempo of the Finance arm of the organization.

Responsibilities include assisting and implementing approved policies, procedures, tools, models, and systems to help coordinate, plan, and report on the budget and planning activities.

You will play a key role in implementing the infrastructure and systems needed to support CVN's strategic plan and substantial growth.


Specifically, you will:

  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of monthly and annual financial statements, analysis, and management reports, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of monthend and yearend activities, including general ledger reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assist with the daily accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Leases, treasury, tax compliance and ad hoc activities.
  • Assist with enhancing, implementing and oversight of accounting policies and strong internal controls focusing on system integrity, accurate reporting, expense management and cost reductions.
  • Actively participate and support external audit engagement in the preparation of financial documents and records for audit review, ensure all requested information is readily available for auditors and timely response to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of all required tax documents, such as the annual IRS Form 990PF, use tax, charitable registrations, personal property and any other required federal, state, and local regulatory filings, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Actively participate in the development and financial analysis against actuals for the annual budget across all departments, forecast and other longrange plan financial models
  • Assist with managing partner military family clinics annual budget and planning process. Collaborate with colleagues across the network to facilitate their budget submission.
  • Review and analysis of military family clinic's monthly reporting against established budget.
  • Assist in the completion of military family clinic financial review/audit to ensure grant funds are spent in accordance with the master grant agreements.
  • Assist in the development of sustainment tracking methodology, reporting, and forecasting of sustainment revenues for each of the military family clinics.
  • Supervise and coach existing senior accountant role and assist in scaling the department into a high performing team.
  • Other duties as assigned including special projects.

What's required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or Master's Degree preferred, but not required.
  • At least ten (10) years of accounting experience in roles of increasing responsibility preferably in Nonprofit industry.
  • Financial planning and analysis experience and proven ability to develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections. Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and to establish and meet deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex financial information to nonfinancial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience managing, grantfunded projects, reporting and budget development, for federal and foundationbased funding streams preferably.
  • Industry knowledge of hospital, community clinics, behavioral health agencies, health insurance reimbursement, or academic medical centers preferably.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, and advance/significant experience with Excel.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite, ADP Payroll, ADP Retirement, Concur Travel and Expense Reporting.
