Organization

Description
Plans, designs, and implements complex communications network systems. Evaluates existing networks and new products. Develops technical standards and applications for network services, operational support, and monitoring.
Plans and evaluates technical innovations and designs required to maintain and/or expand service levels.
Prepares highly technical designs, cost/benefits analyses, and schedules implementation of network design.
Diagnoses and corrects problems affecting communications service.
Evaluates products and services offered (or to be offered) by the department.
Develops specifications and technical standards.

Develops new scripts or programs for use in the department to monitor the campus network or to support services offered by the department.

Supports contractors and consultants as needed.
Assists in the development of long-range plans for communications systems and services.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.

Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Additional Job Posting Information
Department willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
Experience with Unified Communications and Call Centers is preferred.
Industry standard IT/Network certifications are preferred.
