Description
Overview:
We are seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. As a Corporate Counsel, you will play a crucial role in providing legal advice and guidance to our organization.
You will be responsible for handling a wide range of legal matters and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
This position will report to the Chief General Counsel.Responsibilities:
- Manage real estate litigation matters, including working with external counsel and representing the company in Unlawful Detainer trial courts as necessary
- Provide legal advice and guidance on various corporate matters, including contract negotiation, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decisions and provide recommendations
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Stay uptodate with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations
- Assist in developing and implementing legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in California
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an attorney, corporate counsel, or similar role
- Knowledge of real estate law, Unlawful Detainers, corporate law, contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliance
- Proficient in conducting legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to draft and review complex legal documents
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with crossfunctional teams
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in litigating Unlawful Detainers, real estate litigation, and general commercial disputes
- Familiarity with legal administrative processes and procedures
- Proficiency in legal drafting techniques
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research
