What to expect:

The 3-year training as an Operating Technical Assistant (OTA) prepares you for the diverse tasks and activities in the following areas of deployment:
Operating department

  • Outpatient/emergency department
  • Endoscopy
  • Central sterilizationOTA is a young profession in the healthcare sector for the highly technical field of a hospital or surgical practice. The job requires specialized knowledge and technical skills, as well as the ability to recognize the needs of the patients being treated. Planning, assisting, and preparing patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are central training focuses.
What you can look forward to:

  • A secure future with compensation according to the TvÖD
  • An exciting training period with many new experiences
  • The curriculum consists of at least 2100 hours of theoretical instruction and at least 2500 hours of practical training in the deployment locations
  • The mandatory deployment locations are within the operating departments, including general surgery, traumatology, orthopedics, and gynecology
  • The mandatory deployment locations outside of the operating departments are the surgical general ward, central sterilization and supply department, surgical outpatient department, and endoscopy department
