Insurance Specialist:


  • Collects and reviews clinical information for completeness and transfers to appropriate clinical reviewer for determination.
  • Gets authorized referrals within authority guidelines and department standards for outpatient, inpatient and ancillary services.
  • Gets prior authorizations/Insurance eligibility for chemo and Iron services and update EMR accordingly.
  • Is responsible for answering all incoming calls pertaining to financial requests.
  • Follows up on all calls including looking up authorization numbers and provider and eligibility information to PCP offices and members.
  • Maintains knowledge of utilization review standards.

What are the requirements?

  • Education
  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree (A.A. or equivalent from two
- year college or Medical/Technical school) preferred.

  • Business Experience
  • Six months to one year of related experience preferred if no formal education beyond high school

What critical skills are needed for you to consider someone for this position?

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Skills
  • Experience with medical billing and/or insurance authorizations
  • Knowledge of the medical A/R process

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to physicians, patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Pay:
$ $20.00 per hour


Education:


  • High school or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

- medical assistant: 1 year (preferred)


Ability to Relocate:

  • Houston, TX 77089: Relocate before starting work (preferred)
