BUSINESS UNIT:
TERMINALS

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logĂ­stical needs.

Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products.

We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.


PURPOSE:


Direct efforts to ensure tank cleaning activities including the preparations to isolate tanks to be taken out of service for cleanings/rinses, and return tanks to service, as well as degassing activities are completed according to project requirements, Kinder Morgan and customer specifications and governmental regulations.

Work with Engineering, Management, Project Mangers, Project Team, Commercial, Operations and Maintenance Departments to ensure adherence to approved schedules while always focusing on safety.

As a member of the regional operations tank group, the position is responsible for scheduling, monitoring, and evaluating contractors performing tank cleaning and degassing work.

In addition, inspection duties will include work associated with API 653 inspections for tank maintenance as well as inspections of tanks that have been taken out of service for terminations or product changes, in order to identify the repairs necessary to ensure that the tanks are compliant with all Kinder Morgan permits and governmental regulations once they are returned to service.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure that all tank cleaning activities and degassing contractors employed fully embrace KMLT's SQE culture and that this culture is demonstrated consistently in the day to day performance of their work.
  • Ensure that all work performed under this position is performed in a safe, efficient, quality and environmentally compliant manner.
  • Provide a weekly written report on the status of all tanks currently being cleaned or scheduled to be cleaned.
  • Assist management in the overall financial management of jobs, including estimating and forecasting project costs.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, including scope of work, budget forecasting, risk analysis, contractor needs, qualification, etc. Assist with the management of purchasing requests and change orders.
  • Assist in monitoring projects on an ongoing basis to ensure projects are completed according to schedule and KM safety requirements.
  • Work with the appropriate parties to implement standard operating procedures, policies and practices for respective jobsites.
  • Utilize or develop project specific tools and procedures to streamline and facilitate the successful execution of projects.
  • Strict adherence to the Kinder Morgan SQE culture and Core Values.
  • Able to participate as member of Kinder Morgan Confined Space Rescue Team.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Perform inspections of floating roof seals for inservice and outofservice storage tanks.
  • Adheres to an oncall rotation for unplanned vapor control call outs.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION:
High school diploma.

EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:


  • Five (5) years of experience in operation of facilities associated with hazardous liquid terminals, truck loading terminals, and related pump, storage, and metering facilities. Experience with mechanical and piping inspections related to above ground storage tanks. Experience dealing with multidiscipline teams in various locations on large and complex projects with short deadlines.
  • Familiarity with API, TCEQ and EPA specifications, standards, and recommended practices as they relate to aboveground storage tanks.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • API or IQCIA Tank Entry Supervisor (TES) certification or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • API 653 Certification, preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Must pass and complete safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
  • Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Gu
