THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


  • In this role, you will efficiently carry out the Bureau of Forestry's mission for the Division of Operations and Recreation to serve the public, field offices, other Divisions, and the State Forester's Office. Oversight is conducted for Recreation, Public Safety, and Resource Protection, and Operations Sections. The State Forest Recreation Section offers outdoor recreation opportunities on state forest land, while the Public Safety and Resource Protection Section manages the Ranger program for safety. The Operations Section handles rightsofway, leases, and road agreements for State Forest land, as well as building inventory and maintenance. Responsibilities include coordinating computer hardware replacement, managing commercial vehicles and heavy equipment fleets, and organizing training for staff. Collaboration with various departments is essential for successful completion of tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 60minute lunch

Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • One year of experience as a Natural Resource Program Supervisor (commonwealth title);
    or:
  • Five years of professional experience in natural resource management or outdoor recreation management, which includes one year of professional supervisory experience and a bachelor's degree in natural resource management, parks and recreation, education, biology, forestry, ecology, geosciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related natural resources major;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional supervisory experience in natural resource management or outdoor recreation management.
