- Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures, and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
- Run standards and repeatability on all scanners
- Monitor all systems for process variation
- Monitor vibration analysis equipment, gather information, assess for any abnormalities, and report outages for repairs
- Perform backups of systems, PLCs, and drives
- Program and edit PLCs
- Maintain scanners, analyze data for scanner correlation
- Perform periodic cleaning duties
- Configure the DCS system and program FbCAD loop drawing and logic
- Develop GdCAD drawings for DCS
- Assign, develop, and record input/output wiring diagrams and motor elementaries; tune and configure controls loops.
- Machine support; diagnose and correct operational issues
- Maintain I/O spreadsheet
- Train and support Machine Operators and Maintenance personnel on new equipment to solve or avoid potential problems
- Support Production Supervisors, maintenance and other departments during machine failures.
- Manage projects and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate with vendors
- On call availability outside regular working hours
- BS in Engineering 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) systems
- Must have process control experience
- Some familiarity with Metso DNA and Damatic for scanners, EWS, backup stations, and engineering
- AutoCAD software experience preferred
- Knowledge of computer programing, TCP/IP, highly preferred
- Must have mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use multiple computer programs/systems, including MS Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, required

About the Opportunity.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, US / Plant Manager, The Systems & Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the distributed control system (DCS) and web inspection systems.
He or she contributes to a safe workplace and minimizes negative impacts by complying with NEC, OSHA, HSE policies, procedures, and work instructions.
