    Senior ML Engineer
    Series B, Startup
    California, Hybrid
    $200, ,000 + Significant Equity


    The company is using artificial intelligence and natural language processing, to mine structured and unstructured patient data to identify eligible participants for clinical trials rapidly and accurately.

    Their platform enables researchers to find more, better-matching patients for trials in minutes instead of months.

    ‍ Responsibilities:


    Develop and optimize natural language processing (NLP) models for clinical text analysis, including named entity recognition, relation extraction, and information retrieval.

    Explore and leverage large language models (LLMs) for tasks such as clinical note summarization, patient eligibility determination, and question answering.

    Collaborate with clinical experts and data scientists to understand domain-specific requirements and develop tailored NLP solutions.
    Implement data preprocessing and feature engineering techniques to ensure high-quality input for machine learning models.
    Evaluate and improve model performance through techniques like transfer learning, fine-tuning, and ensembling.
    Design and implement robust data pipelines for efficient processing of clinical notes, patient records, and other unstructured medical data.
    Contribute to the development of reusable NLP libraries and tools for the team.

    Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP, LLMs, and machine learning, and incorporate new techniques and methodologies as appropriate.

    ‍ Requirements:

    5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on natural language processing.
    Proficient in Python and relevant machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
    Solid understanding of NLP techniques, such as text preprocessing, word embeddings, language models, and transformer architectures.
    Experience with large language models (LLMs) like GPT, BERT, or RoBERTa is a plus.
