In terms of special projects, I have produced comprehensive videos busting myths about the Human Brain and Behavior as part of The BIG BRAIN PROJECT and hosted the interview and podcast "A Biologist, a Psychologist and a Philosopher walk into a bar" on Red Hook radio, where I interviewed Nobel Laureates Martin Chalfie (2008) and Jennifer Doudna (2020).

Lastly, I am a dedicated volunteer and have taught differently-abled students general science and English at Sooraj Foundation, and I have formed and led a campaign against domestic violence for Pakistani women at the United Nations Women headquarters in New York.

Experience

I also have extensive work experience in various fields, including IT and biology lab supervision at Bard College, biomedical research assistance at The Mount Sinai Hospital, and biology and ESL tutoring at the Learning Commons. Additionally, I have worked as a library assistant at the Tivoli Library, a technical writer for the Red Hook Learning Institute, a health associate at EDGE in Lahore, Pakistan, and a scribe/shadow for Neurology at Doctors Hospital & Medical Center.

Education

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Mind, Brain & Behavior (Cognitive behavior) from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. I held a Merit-Based Distinguished Science Scholarship for 4 years worth $49,000 per year. I also completed O'Level & A Level (GCSE - CIE) in Natural Sciences & Computer Science. I have conducted research with Prof. Arseny Khakhalin PhD for my Senior Thesis on inducing learning and unlearning in Xenopus laevis through collision avoidance using valproic acid. This study examined the manipulation of visually guided behavior in Xenopus Laevis induced by exposure to Valproic Acid VPA, an HDI. The research showed that VPA promotes neuronal plasticity in the visual organs of X. Laevis leading to the exhibition of visual collision avoidance. My thesis is available at the Bard Library.
