Description

At the Cardinal Cushing Centers, we support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing possibilities and opportunities for growth and advancement.

Our programs for students, adults and community members include education, employment training, transition services, residential care, therapeutic and recreational services.

The CORE classroom provides special education services to students from 18-22 years of age.

This transitional class provides instruction in both Functional Academics as well as Vocational opportunities in order to prepare the students for their adult life and potential employment.

They must differentiate instruction for their individual students in accordance with those frameworks as well as with the IEP for each student.

The teacher must create and maintain a safe environment and manage rules and expectations with staff within their classroom. They will need to develop IEPs, take daily data, and report progress within mandated timelines.

The teacher should have an understanding of a variety of special needs and how disabilities may impact learning and instruction.

The CORE class provides all DESE required instruction, work readiness training, and community opportunities.
