GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MATERIAL HANDLER


The Material Handler will increase work force efficiency by decreasing the time spent locating and kitting jobs as well as operate machines that move heavy equipment such as steel plates, fabricated vessels, fabricated steel platforms, and other products.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES FOR MATERIAL HANDLER

  • Assist in movement, staging, and kitting of materials for work in progress
  • Review production schedules and work orders to determine materials required and material priorities for jobs
  • Build supports or braces as needed to stabilize objects for fabrication and transportation
  • Operate highly specialized moving equipment, ie cranes & forklifts, to position materials weighing up to and including 40,000lbs

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS FOR MATERIAL HANDLER

  • Able to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and appropriate rigging material
  • Knowledge rigging for safe controlled, calculated lifts
  • Familiarity with blue print and tape measure reading
  • Experience with an ERP database

EDUCATIONAL/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS FOR MATERIAL HANDLER

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous forklift and over head crane required
  • Outside work required, must be able to work during all seasons and weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
