- Advocates for programs that support student achievement.
- Supervises staff and ensures compliance with regulations.
- Maintains student records and tracks withdrawals.
- Establishes community relationships and tracks student outcomes.
- Manages the counseling department budget and organizes special programs.
- Coordinates grade level conferences and provides supervision for counselors and support staff.

SUMMARY:
To provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling model to high school students, the high school guidance department may consist of various roles. These individuals work together to offer a guidance and counseling program tailored to meet the needs of students. They collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance student support and educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in Counseling or School Administration with relevant experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid South Carolina Teaching License in Guidance Counseling.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts supervisory responsibilities following organization policies.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to interpret professional materials and effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and interpret data for decision-making.
REASONING ABILITY:
Capable of problem-solving and addressing work-related issues.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Proficient in operating a computer and related software with strong communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Includes occasional lifting and movement of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and various physical activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment with variable noise levels and occasional interruptions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Based on full-time employment during the school year, subject to adjustment for part-time employees.
EVALUATION:
Performance review conducted annually as per Board Policy.
