- Provide clients with counseling and assistance to ensure housing maintenance
- Manage a full caseload of non-payment and holdover proceedings in court
- Handle litigation before administrative agencies as required
- Engage in outreach activities such as educational workshops and trainings
- Represent tenants in trials
- Prepare legal documents, motions, and agreements
- Assess court cases assigned by relevant authorities
- Show dedication to public interest law and social justice
- Participate in professional meetings and conferences
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
- Uphold confidentiality
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Manage time effectively
- Collaborate with departmental staff
- Perform clerical tasks
- Establish communication with other programs within the organization
- Provide coverage as needed
- Undertake additional assigned duties
- J.D from an ABA Accredited Law School
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- 2+ years of trial experience beneficial
- Prior litigation/landlord-tenant experience advantageous
- Familiarity with NYC housing law and public benefits
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in client representation and case management
- Strong team building and individual work abilities
- Excellent communication, research, and organizational skills
- Capacity to anticipate legal issues
- Experience working with low-income individuals
- Spanish fluency preferred
- Effective time management
- Sound judgment and ethical conduct
