    A New Jersey based nonprofit legal services organization is currently seeking a Staff Attorney to join their growing team. In this role, the Staff Attorney will be responsible for providing direct representation to clients in a variety of legal matters, including community and public benefits, family, landlord/tenant, housing, consumer, healthcare, employment and senior law issues. The position will begin as a Temporary one and is eligible for conversion to a direct hire position.

    Responsibilities:

    The Staff Attorney will:

    • Handle intake interviews.
    • Participate in community outreach and community legal education, clinics and seminars.
    • Participate in group representation, where appropriate
    • Participate in staff and case acceptance meetings and program wide working groups.
    • Work with the Managing Attorney, Director of Litigation and/or the Executive Director in planning, developing and litigating significant impact cases.
    • Develop new ideas and methods to provide service to clients
    • Work with other staff as an effective member of the team
    • Assist in supervising Paralegals, clerical workers and students
    • Perform other duties, as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctorate
    • Admission to a State Bar
    • Public Interest experience
    • Previous experience in the Legal industry

    Desired Skills:

    • Admission to the NJS Bar
    • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
