The Government of Québec operates thirty-four representations worldwide with nine offices in the United States including: New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC, where it has been present since 1978.

The
Québec Government Office in Washington is responsible for Québec's overall bilateral relationship with the United States Federal Government.

Its mandate is to monitor legislation, programs, and political positions taken in Washington that could have an impact on Québec's interests.

Additionally, the office seeks to promote Québec's expertise and interests through developing networks among members of Congress, the Administration, and multilateral organizations, as well as with think tanks, universities, local/specialized media and NGOs.


Role description:


  • Propose, develop, coordinate economic diplomacy activities defending and promoting Québec's economic interests.
  • Serve as a resource person on industrial policy and emerging economic sectors such as artificial intelligence.
  • Develop, produce, and contribute to reports and notes highlighting strategies pertaining to Québec's economic priorities.
  • Develop and mobilize an excellent network of economic and business contacts. The quality of the incumbent's network of contacts is critical to the success of such missions in the capital of the United States.
  • In conjunction with the trade attachés of the United States network, position Québec's fields of economic excellence and sectors with high potential for collaboration by creating a positive dialogue around trade, the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (USMCA) and supply chains.
  • Propose program elements to the Director and partners; set up appointments; write briefing notes (for information, decisionmaking, trade and political missions, and strategy development) for the Director, Québec ministries and partners.
  • Represent the Québec Government at public events, such as conferences, think thank meetings, annual meetings, webinars, panels, and at economic and commercial bodies based in Washington D.C.

Three years minimum of relevant professional experience:

  • A solid understanding of the North American economic and commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of Québec's economic and commercial relations with the U.S. is a definite asset.
  • Experience in diplomacy to explain, defend, coordinate and handle Québec economic and commercial initiatives and projects.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and to multitask.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.

Hybrid Remote

Note that this is a Hybrid remote job that combines on-site work at a specific address with some remote flexibility.

Pay:
From $104,150.00 per year
