Technical Research Assistant

Working under the general supervision of a Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, conducts a variety of experiments with clearly established methodologies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct behavioral pharmacology, cognitive, and/or neurochemical experiments. Experiments will be conducted daily and may include drug selfadministration studies, drug discrimination studies, studies of schedule controlledresponding, touchscreenbased cognition biology, imaging, and/or neurochemical studies using in vivo micro dialysis.
- Prepare and administer drug treatments according to laboratory protocols.
- Transcribe and analyze data with computerbased statistics and graphics programs and prepare reports for supervisors.
- Discusses progress of studies regularly with supervisor.
- Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Assist with maintenance of animal care and husbandry and maintenance of an orderly work environment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
BS or BA related to life sciences or medicine (e.g., pharmacology, neuroscience, biology, psychology).
New Graduate with relevant course or project work.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Ability to work in a relatively independent manner
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, detail oriented.
- Ability to accurately record data and to analyze data using basic statistics.
- Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc.
- Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions
