The
Creative Manager will produce creative designs for integrated, multi-platform use across the Karsh Institute's digital and print media ecosystem as well as visuals that effectively communicate strategic intent.

The
Creative Manager will serve as the creative lead for projects across the Institute, including its labs and partner initiatives, establishing a distinct Institute brand identity in alignment with the University's visual identity ecosystem.


Responsibilities

  • Creative Strategy and Implementation_
  • Leads and implements creative strategy and design across the Institute.
  • Develops a distinct brand identity system for the Institute that builds from and aligns with UVA's visual identity ecosystem.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Content and Marketing, oversees implementation of the Institute's brand identity system.
  • Oversees the development, distribution, and maintenance of brand assets including logos, brand art, templates, and usage guidelines.
  • Develops and oversees creative project intake and systems to track project components, production timelines, and vendor relations and ensures adherence to schedules, project specifications, and budget limitations.
  • Stays up to date on creative industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Relationship Management _
  • Meets with internal clients to identify graphic needs, establish roles and timelines for graphic design projects, and design and produce creative content for clients.
  • Employs and provides internal guidance on the University's graphics standards, techniques, methods, and style guides.
  • Develops relationships with creative staff across the University.
  • Manages relations with external design and print vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in visual design, digital arts or related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Minimum five years of design experience, including branding, visual identity, web and digital design, and print design required.
  • Proficiency with Apple OS, Adobe Creative Suite including After-Effects and Sketch.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates a range of design deliverables across media and a high level of creativity in generating original design concepts within an established visual identity system.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced, highvolume environment.
  • Positive orientation to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of individuals and organizations to achieve shared objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences and consider diverse experiences, styles, backgrounds, and perspectives when making decisions.
  • Photography and/or video production experience a plus.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated hiring range will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit
