New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) is a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering immigrant workers by organizing their individual and collective social, economic, and political power to seek justice
in life and at work.

Our approach combines a robust workforce development program, which includes training & certifications, political education on worker rights & job search and placement; with a holistic wraparound of key supportive services for these new immigrants.

Founded in 1999, NICE serves over 15,000 immigrant workers, including new immigrants from the past, present, and future.

From construction workers, day laborers, restaurant workers, and cleaning and hospitality workers, NICE organizes the future workforce :
whether they have been New Yorkers for 20+ years or are just arriving at NICE.

***Reporting directly to the NICE's Development Director, the Development Coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing development operations and supporting the Development Department across a variety of fundraising and communications functions. The position will work closely with the Executive Team, as well as other key areas of NICE Central and other divisions of the organization.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Development Operations & Individual Giving

  • Support the design and implementation of new development opportunities by working with the Development and Senior Leadership team to develop donor cultivation and stewardship plans.
  • Support the Development Director and IT Coordinator in the development of a donor database.
  • Maintain uptodate and accurate donor data and donor prospect data.
  • Manage gift processing from starttofinish, including coding donations and inputting donation data into the database.
  • Ensure timely processing of gift acknowledgement letters and tax receipts.
  • Perform data pulls from the database, analyze, and organize the data to produce accurate donation and donor fundraising reports throughout the year.
  • Manage specific external vendors, consultants, and partnerships related to the fundraising, campaigns, and events, including submitting Requests for Expenses, and working with Finance to ensure timely payments. Create and manage a fundraising calendar.

Event Planning

  • Work with the NICE Central Finance team in securing and vetting all vendors. Review all vendor contracts, share with appropriate staff, and properly file once signed.
  • Plan the runofshow of all events with the Development Director and prepare all staff, vendors, and external parties before each event.
  • Serve as point of contact for all staff, vendors, and external parties on the day of the event.
  • Assign staff roles for each event, explain their role, and the Development Department's expectations.
  • Research and plan different ways to increase event revenue, including auctions and raffles.

Corporate Partners

  • Assist in building NICE's pool of corporate partners by researching and connecting with companies that align with NICE's values and mission. Will require cold calling and attending networking events.
  • Secure inkind or monetary donations for events or fundraising campaigns.
  • Track all corporate donations and process acknowledgement letters.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required;
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, sales or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit;
  • You make timely decisions and demonstrate good judgment;
  • An understanding of how trauma impacts traditionally marginalized individuals and communities and how this influences the design and delivery of programs serving them;
  • Deep passion for NICE's mission and values; commitment to building and maintaining a fundraising portfolio that reflects the population served by the organization;
  • You are detailed oriented with the ability to monitor progress towards goals, assess risks, and adjust plans as needed and takes initiative with an attention to detail and ability to be selfdirected;
  • Exceptional project management skills with strong attention to detail;
  • You are an impactful storyteller, with strong verbal and written communication skills; and a knack for influencing others toward outcomes through sophisticated relationship management;
  • You have fun and bring you to work and create workspaces that allow enjoyment and fulfillment that build collegial teams.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. May require you to work evenings and weekends.


Type:

  • Hourly, nonexempt
  • Pay: hourly rate $27.54 to $31.6
  • Requires physical presence on the job site (categorized as an essential employee)
