    Sign-On Bonus Details:

    - $7,500 sign-on bonus for nurses with 1+ years of experience

    - $5,000 sign-on bonus for nurses with less than one year of experience (including GPNs)

    The LPN plays a critical role in providing direct patient care and related activities under the guidance of a registered nurse. Your responsibilities include managing patient environment, observation, reporting, and medication administration when directed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepares patients for meals, serves trays, assists with feedings, provides nourishment, and collects specimens

    • Performs cleaning tasks, linen collection, and equipment sterilization

    • Assists with toileting, patient movement, and specimen labeling

    • Specializes in caring for patients with co-occurring disorders

    • Observes and documents patient condition changes as per unit policies

    • Organizes recreational activities for patients

    • Provides direct patient care, responds to emergencies

    • Adheres to safety protocols, administers medications as instructed

    • Handles patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

    • Conducts treatments such as catheterizations, suctioning, and dressing changes

    Education and Formal Training Required:

    • · Must hold a temporary permit or valid practical nurse license in Pennsylvania; successful completion of Altoona Hospital pharmacology challenge exam

    • · CPR certification maintenance mandatory

    • LPNs graduating outside PA or before August 25, 2012, without completing a PA-approved IV course, must fulfill additional education provided by UPMC Altoona Education Department

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    · CPR certification following AHA standards within 30 days of hire

    · Licensure examination completion within four months of hire or one year of graduation

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

    • Act 33 with renewal

    • Act 34 with renewal

    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
