- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
- Graduate of a Board-approved program in nurse midwifery: Required
- Two years' clinical nursing experience: Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in the state of practice: Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Performs physical assessment using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion. Selects and uses appropriate evaluation tools and equipment consistent with patient's diagnosis, history and medical status.
- Makes initial and ongoing assessment of the patient's needs, identifying changes and trends in various physical, emotional, and age related parameters. Evaluates the patient response to nursing interventions related to the established goals and overall effectiveness of the care provided and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Obtains physician assistance and consultation when indicated and provides emergency care and interventions until physician assistance can be obtained.
- Documents relevant data, including but not limited to nursing diagnoses, patient's plan of care, intervention and response, and discharge plan.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
