    Located in a tight-knit community in Kings County, Adventist Health Hanford has been serving the Central Valley since 1965. We are comprised of a 173-bed hospital and many outpatient clinics with primary and specialty care services. Hanford residents are proud of their city's historic charm and family-friendly atmosphere.     Job Summary:

    Plans and provides competent, age-specific healthcare and advice to women in a variety of settings with emphasis on the reproduction cycle including management of ante-partum, intra-partum and post-partum periods including healthcare for normal newborns. Provides well women gynecology and family planning services. Educates, counsels and advises patients, families and community on all aspects of the reproductive cycle and related psychosocial issues.

    Job Requirements:

    Education and Work Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
    • Graduate of a Board-approved program in nurse midwifery: Required
    • Two years' clinical nursing experience: Preferred
    Licenses/Certifications:
    • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
    • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in the state of practice: Required
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Required
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
    Essential Functions:
    • Performs physical assessment using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion. Selects and uses appropriate evaluation tools and equipment consistent with patient's diagnosis, history and medical status.
    • Makes initial and ongoing assessment of the patient's needs, identifying changes and trends in various physical, emotional, and age related parameters. Evaluates the patient response to nursing interventions related to the established goals and overall effectiveness of the care provided and makes adjustments as necessary.
    • Obtains physician assistance and consultation when indicated and provides emergency care and interventions until physician assistance can be obtained.
    • Documents relevant data, including but not limited to nursing diagnoses, patient's plan of care, intervention and response, and discharge plan.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
