Overview:


Under general supervision, the Imaging Technologist Aide is responsible for assisting in all aspects of patient care to include but not limited to preparing patients for their exams, and assisting in performance of imaging procedures at the direction of the imaging technologist.

This position is responsible to transport patients who may include infants, children, adolescents, adults and or elderly adults, to and from various areas throughout the facility in a timely manner.

In addition, this position will assist with documentation in the healthcare record, conducting patient research, supply management and general assistance to support the imaging team.

As a member of the team, this position will also perform a variety of clerical duties, while providing assistance to patients, technologists and radiologists.

This position demonstrates excellent communication skills and effectively works with a multidisciplinary staff, patients, and their caregivers.


Responsibilities:


Patient Care

  • Transports outpatient and inpatients patients to and from the imaging department; communicates information regarding any extended wait or delay in appointment time to clinical staff or patient/patient caregiver.
  • Support expediting trauma and critical patients in the imaging department
  • Documents patient medical data under the supervision of imaging technologist and imaging supervisors.
  • Prepares patients for examinations; assists with minor procedures and a variety of other medically related tasks within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains department cleanliness throughout the department to include equipment and patient care area.
  • Assist technologist with postprocedure processing of exams.
  • Assist the technologist in preparing patient trays for procedures; assist with monitoring patients and following clinical instructions, for example: dressing biopsy sites and other minor procedural care as assigned by supervising radiologist.
  • Delivers specimens to appropriate location in a timely manner
  • Assembles and prepares equipment/ exam rooms to technologist guidelines
  • Maintains patient confidentiality consistent with hospital policy.
  • Adheres to hospital infection control practices and isolation precautions.
  • Perform EKGs as needed.

Administrative

  • Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming administrative line telephone calls, communicates effectively with callers obtaining complete and accurate information to determine the need(s) of the caller. Provides accurate and detailed information to callers and when taking messages.
  • Assists with scheduling as needed.
  • Assists with front desk administrative duties as needed.
  • Assist with data collection for quality control purposes.
  • Helps review patient information prior to their appointment.
  • Uses the PACS system to burn CDs and fax reports to physicians.
  • Help to troubelshoot issues as they arise.
  • Assists with supplies and inventory to include removal of outdated supplies, restocking of supplies and laundry bins when needed.
  • Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
  • Effectively communicates technical information to nontechnical staff.
  • Engaged in and enthusiastic about learning new tasks in different areas.

Compliance/Safety

  • Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
  • Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.
  • If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are uptodate and valid prior to expiration dates.
  • Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the Unit's Standards of Care and Practice and Administrative Policies as well as being able to locate Policy and Procedures Manuals on the assigned units.
  • Compliant with all NAH safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education
High School Diploma or GED
  • Required

Certification & Licensures
BLS (American Heart Association)

  • Required
Fingerprint Clearance Application Number
  • Required
on date of hire, and Level 1 Finger Print Clearance card
  • Required
within 90 days from date of hire

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA) or Phlebotomist - Preferred


Experience
EMT/CNA/MA or comparable patient care experience - Preferred

IV starts skills within 6 months from date of hire - Preferred

6 months' experience in healthcare setting - Preferred
