The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt works with industry and research at a leading national and international level. The institute's research tasks are focused on specific issues in the areas of structural durability, system reliability, adaptronics, and plastics.

In the Technical Management department, organized into three groups - Service Center (DLC), Facility Management (GM), and IT - all central technologies for the site and research operations (construction, maintenance, testing, supply technology, building technology, and IT) are provided, operated in compliance with legal requirements, and continuously developed to meet the changing needs of researchers. This includes all phases of life cycle management from planning and budgeting to operation, maintenance, decommissioning, and replacement procurement. The driving force behind this is always the scientific project operation (testing and simulation environments) with its dynamically changing technological requirements.
