GENERAL PURPOSE

The AAA Deputy Administrator 3 with the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for assisting in the administration of a comprehensive system of social services for the aging population within Northampton County, ensuring program effectiveness and conformance with established federal, state and local regulations and policies as well as directing the operation of the AAA Division in the absence of the AAA Administrator.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports directly to the AAA Administrator.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position is responsible for supervision over the Protective Services Supervisor, the Senior Center Services Director, and three Aging Care Management Supervisors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Performs record samples and provides reports to AAA unit supervisors and the AAA Administrator.

Develops policies and procedures as deemed necessary for review and approval by the AAA Administrator.


With the Administrator and Quality Assurance Supervisor, participates in the selection, orientation, and training of all AAA supervisory staff members.

Lead for monitoring of purchase of service contracts utilized in the OPTIONS Program.


Develops policy and procedures to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of the Older Adults Protective Services Program, including development of the Protective Services Annual Plan.


In the absence of PS Supervisory staff, reviews and signs off on all investigations completed by Older Adults Protective Services staff, as required by Commonwealth standards when Protective Services Supervisor is unavailable.


Has lead responsibility for selection and hiring of all staff in the Older Adults Protective Services Program, and all other programs.

Attains and maintains certification as an Older Adult Protective Services worker as designated by the Commonwealth. Intervenes directly in cases when necessary to ensure appropriate service to older adults.

Reviews monitoring reports/Quality Assurance data gathered from Senior Centers, develops initiatives to improve services.

Performs related duties assigned by the AAA Administrator.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of professional experience in a human services program, either in an administrative capacity or in providing social services to clients, including one (1) year supervisory experience and a Bachelor's Degree, which includes or is supplemented by 12 semester hours credit in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social science;
OR


Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12-semester hours credit in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other related social science.

A master's degree in Social Work or the Social Sciences (sociology, psychology, social welfare, or gerontology) may be substituted for one year of the general experience.


Employee assigned to this title will be required to possess and maintain a valid and current motor vehicle operator's license.

Must have an acceptable driving record. Personal vehicle required for County business, employee is eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Communicates fluently in English, Includes face-to-face contacts, telephone contacts, and in large and small group settings.
