    Who You Are

    Justworks is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineering Manager to lead our growing analytics engineering team within the Data Services group. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development of core data model architecture and ensuring the delivery of quality data product solutions. You'll drive the adoption of dbt (data build tool), and evangelize best practices in data modeling.

    This role is instrumental in delivering against our broader Data Services mission to enable our customers to work fearlessly with data. It demands a strong technical background in analytics engineering, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation.

    Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On

    • Lead a team of talented analytics engineers to develop high-impact data products that drive business value.
    • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable analytics infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and BI tools, ensuring high availability and performance.
    • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand their domain data needs, and translate business requirements into technical specifications. Develop data products to meet those needs.
    • Manage the team's day-to-day activities, including project prioritization, resource allocation, and performance management - setting clear goals and milestones and ensuring timely delivery.
    • Partner with and enroll our BI partners in data modeling best practices.
    • Ensure that the team follows best practices in engineering, inclusive of concerns around data governance, data quality, and data security.
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in analytics engineering and apply them to improve our modeling capabilities.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    In the Senior Manager, Analytics Engineering role, how results are achieved is paramount for your success and ultimately results in our success as an organization. In this role, your foundational knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal attributes are anchored in the following competencies:

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 7 years of professional hands-on experience in data engineering, data science or a similar role
    • Minimum of 4 years of people management experience (experience building a team, a plus)
    • Expert proficiency in SQL and strong understanding of scripting languages (Ruby, Python, bash)
    • Significant experience leading data architecture projects and driving decisions related to data model design and implementation
    • Significant familiarity with data modeling & analytics engineering best practices
    • Ability to think strategically but also be able to do things needed at the moment
    • Experience with dbt (data build tool) or similar data modeling tools is highly desirable
    • Solid understanding of data governance principles and best practices
    • Excellent communication skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams
    • Strong leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
    • Solid experience in Agile/Lean practices and working closely with product management
    • High levels of empathy and interpersonal skills
    • Plus: Experience with developing data architectures to support ML and/or DS needs.
