Job Summary


This position is responsible to perform manual labor and to operate a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools as required to assist in the repair and maintenance of the parks facilities and grounds, athletic fields, other general recreational or conservation areas within the city.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks & Streets Supervisor with direction from the Foreman.


Days/Hours for Position:


Regularly scheduled work days and hours for this position are: Sunday, 6:00am - 2:30pm and Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.

The position also requires after hours call ins via an overtime rotation list.

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintenance Worker I

  • High school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years' responsible work experience in public works, construction or related field; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • A valid Illinois Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement and an acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage. If this requirement is not met upon hire, the Class B CDL must be obtained within the designated time period.

Salary

Starting salary rate:
$23.75 per hour in accordance with Union contract. Position includes eligibility for full benefits package of group health insurance, benefit time and IMRF retirement plan.
