The Don & Ellie Knauss (VRSC) is one of 13 departments in the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) at Texas A&M University.

The VRSC proudly provides caring, personalized and continuous support to undergraduate and graduate Aggie Veterans and military-affiliated Aggies. Opened in 2012, the VRSC assists Aggie Veterans in navigating and successfully transitioning to Texas A&M by providing a welcoming space, peer leadership, innovative programs, and a vast array of tools and resources to facilitate individual academic and personal success, Click H ere

Position Details:
Employee will supervise (4) FTE within the department of VRSC.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years responsible management experience working with veterans/activeduty military personnel in an education/training environment; center/office management experience including budgeting, supervision, and customer service

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree
  • Five years' experience in working with Veterans Administration or other veterans support organizations and/or administration of higher education programs
  • Exhibited strong leadership record with faculty, staff, and students
  • Basic understanding of development techniques

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision - Provides overall direction and leadership for the Veteran Resource & Support Center. Responsible for budgeting, staffing, and strategic planning for the department. Communicates and collaborates with Vice President of Student Affairs, supervisor, human resources, and finance staff to make staffing and budgeting decisions. Hires, trains, and supervises all Division of Student Affairs staff.

Programs and Services - Develop, implement, refine, and sustain programs and services to support success of Texas A&M students who are veterans, active duty, Reserve or National Guard Service members and/or military family members.

Partnerships - Maintain relationships with Admissions, Scholarships and Financial Aid, Career Center, Texas A&M University Foundation, and other departments/academic units. Seek collaborative efforts with other University, State and National entities, as appropriate, to enhance the holistic development of student veterans.

Development - Set development/fundraising priorities to sustain veteran support, meet with donors, and guide the efforts of the Texas A&M University Foundation Development Officer(s) who assist with VRSC fundraising.

Assessment - Continuously collect and assess data on military-affiliated student demographics and collaborate with other campus entities to improve resources that enhance student veteran success.

Education - Disseminate research and data on Texas A&M University student veterans to the Division and University community to increase awareness, resources, and opportunities.

Advising - Serve as an advisor for and support the TAMU Student Veteran Association or other military-affiliated student organizations.
