Since 2003 First to Serve has focused on providing transitional housing, medical, and supportive services to homeless men, women and children in South Los Angeles, all while promoting family reunification, and supporting efforts to assist families in remaining intact. We have around 250 staff members serving an estimated 800 individuals every night at any of our 20 locations across Los Angeles. We partner with the Dept. of Mental Health, LAHSA, the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County to improve our community by providing competent and professional services to underserved families.
The Driver is responsible for meeting organization transportation needs.
These responsibilities include DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance, meeting preventive and routine maintenance, as well as organization and client transportation.
Position requires consistent coordination with other managers to ensure safe and timely transporting of supplies, clients, employees, pick-ups, deliveries and any other transporting assigned tasks.
The Driver is expected to see that equipment is well-maintained and the appearance of each driver's trucks and trailers are up to standards.
- Ensure high level of customer service is emphasized at all levels
- Carry out all responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and procedures
- Ensure all necessary driving and performance tasks and responsibilities are being met
- Maintain frequent contact with management staff and employees
- Maintain routine inspections and vehicle maintenance schedules
- Ensure all administrative driving requirements are completed in a timely manner
- Mentor and assist employees
- Attend weekly/monthly safety meetings
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers
- Other tasks as assigned by management
