Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center (KFPC), a NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) Division of Forensic Services facility, is currently recruiting Direct Care Staff/Security Hospital Treatment Assistants (SHTA) for their secure forensic psychiatric center unit in NYC, NY.
KFPC provides secure treatment and evaluation for pretrial defendants who have been found incompetent to stand trial and ordered by the courts for restoration of fitness to stand trial and individuals who have been found not responsible due to mental disease or defect.
Direct Care Staff/SHTAs at KFPC:
- Monitor patients and provide for a safe and therapeutic environment
- Teach and model acceptable behaviors and verbal skills
- Lead therapeutic activity groups
- Escort patients off grounds for appointments
- Complete reports and documentation

Minimum Qualifications
- SHTA
- High School diploma or High School equivalency diploma or similar equivalency such as General Education Development (GED) Certification or higher and 2 years of fulltime direct patient care experience working in a health care setting or behavioral health setting
or - Associate's degree and 1 year of fulltime direct patient care experience working in a health care setting or behavioral health setting
or - Bachelor's degree
