Position available:
Part Time Registered Nurse - Care for the Homeless Program - starting May/June approx. 20 hours/week

The Institute for Family Health (IFH)


Description:
work with LGBTQ unhoused youth age 16-24 receiving services from the Ali Forney Center (AFC) in Manhattan. Work in conjunction with Institute's primary care providers and the staff of Ali Forney.

The nurse will be responsible for routine nursing duties, outreach and care coordination with IFH and AFC staff; triage and assessment; assist with gender affirming intakes/education/care; promote and coordinate access to PreP and PEP; assess patients for suicidality and coordinate with mental health providers; coordinate planning for patients who are aging out of care; manage Rx prior authorizations and coordination with pharmacies; supply inventory and ordering; may facilitate patient health education groups.

This is a wonderful employment and learning opportunity for licensed RN's who are concurrently pursuing their Nurse Practitioner degree.


Schedule:
Wednesday and Thursday 9-5 required

Additional hours/days TBD/flexible (no evenings, weekends possible but not required)


Qualifications:

  • Licensed RN
  • Experience working with teens/adults
  • Experience with LGBTQ population
  • Knowledge gender affirming care preferred
  • Knowledge of HIV care and prevention preferred
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Experience administering vaccines and phlebotomy
  • Experience using electronic health records (EPIC a plus
